All Days » Day 34
Living in harmony is living from your true heart space and in balance with the energies of the earth and our bodies. Today we will look at harmony and the union and balance of the Shiva and Shakti energies.
Here are your 3 gems:
1. We are all made of both masculine and feminine energies regardless of our gender. The intention of yoga, specifically the asana practice, is to bring harmony and balance and union to these energies that we embody. When we are out of balance, we see-saw between grasping and aversion, attachment and anger, frustration and solitude. Practicing yoga asanas is a direct way to clear the channels of Shiva and Shakti. Masculine energies are represented by Shiva and are channeled on the right side and front side of the body. Feminine energies are represented by Shakti and are channeled on the left side and back side of the body. When you practice yoga asana, these channels get opened and purified.
Here is a pdf of the Ashtanga Series. After a couple of Sun Salutations, learn this series and you will have a beautiful yoga practice wherever and however you find Your Self.

2. The Heart Chakra, also known as Anahata Chakra is the balancing chakra between the lower chakras and the higher chakras. It is the chakra in the middle of the path of the 7 chakras that resides at the center of the heart space. It is the seat of unconditional love, full acceptance, self-love, contentment and harmony. The central focus of the heart chakra is relationship. Relationship to ourselves and relationship to others. It is the space where we OPEN TO LOVE and feel connection, compassion and empathy for others. Spend time today being fully present with someone, sharing yourself, and opening to an unconditional acceptance of another's being. Turn the dial and feel what it is to be in the shoes of the Other person and open to empathy. The development of empathy is a crucial quality of the heart chakra. Empathy is the process of spontaneously and naturally feeling a deep compassion for another person's reality. Rise above the Relative self and feel the Ultimate connection for another being dissolving judgment and melting the heart to receive the messages that comes with allowance and openness.
3. Practice equal inhalation and equal exhalation pranayama practices. Inhale counting to 5 and exhale counting to 5. Sit with intention and lengthen the inhale equally with the exhale. Stay for as long as you can sit and feel the heart opening.
